Volunteer at Congress

Volunteering at Congress 2015: an unforgettable experience!

The Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, to be held at the University of Ottawa from May 30 to June 5, 2015, is Canada’s largest interdisciplinary gathering of scholars and researchers. This year approximately 70 academic associations will meet at Congress and we are expecting more than 8,000 people to attend.

The success of Congress 2015 is largely dependent on the work of volunteers. We are counting on you to get involved!

Volunteers perform a number of essential duties while supporting in areas such as catering, audiovisual, accessibility, and signage, along with helping attendees find their way across the university campus. Volunteers choose how many hours they are able to donate and when they are available.

Volunteers will receive a letter recognizing their volunteer contribution at the end of the Congress as well as a T-shirt to wear while volunteering. Food and beverages will be provided for volunteers during the week of Congress and a big barbeque will be held at the end of Congress to thank the volunteers for their efforts.  Please note there will be a brief orientation session to ensure that you are properly prepared. The session will take place on Thursday, May 28, from 13:00 to 14:30.
